AORE is requesting members to review the newly released draft of the Wilderness First Responder Scope of Practices document. Professional Experience
Jerry Rupert is presently the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator at Iowa State University. He has been in this position for the past six years. Jerry has had some diverse professional experiences over his 28 plus years in the field of Outdoor Recreation. Those would include being a NOLS Instructor since 1992, the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator at the University of Virginia and the Assistant Coordinator of the ORP at the University of Utah.
Education
Jerry received his B.S. degree from Lock Haven University in Health and Physical Education and his M.S. degree from the University of Utah in Recreation & Leisure. Other educational experiences of note would be the completion of a semester course with NOLS, completion of a Water Instructors Course with NOLS and numerous first aid courses including WFR.
AORE Affiliation
Jerry has been involved with AORE since its inception. He has been formally or informally involved with this organization over the past twenty four years. Jerry has presented at a number of conferences and has been actively involved on the Access Committee for many years. This is his first stint as a board member.
Recreation
In his free time or while at work Jerry enjoys most outdoor activities. Following are some brief descriptions of this:
Tele Skier - Powder Snob – lived in Utah for 20 years
Canoe, kayak, raft – River Rat – loves desert rivers
Ice Climbing – Next Adventure - Old Dog will learn new tricks!
