AORE is requesting members to review the newly released draft of the Wilderness First Responder Scope of Practices document. Rodney Ley is currently an Assistant Director in Campus Recreation at Colorado State University. He has directed the Outdoor Adventure Program since 1990 and was an adjunct instructor the program's predecessor the Experiential Learning Program founded in 1978.Rodney founded the yurt-to-yurt ski system Never Summer Nordic in the Colorado State Forest in 1986.
Rodney received his bachelors degree in 1975 and his Master's in Education in 1999. He has served on the National Outdoor Book Awards committee since its founding and is a NOBA foundation member. He has attended 12 "AORE" conferences since 1988.
Rodney's passion is teaching students in an adventure context, and any venue will do: CSU classroom, Ouray ice fall, streets of Kathmandu, etc. Watching the transition of students grow through the process of outdoor adventure is a life enriching process.
As empty nesters Rodney and his wife Jana of 33 years are enjoying a return to calmer, quieter times full of beaches and books with an occasional microbrew thrown in.
