In February, the AORE signed the updated Wilderness First Aid Scope of Practices, which serves to, “… assist the lay public, outdoor program administrators, and other consumers of wilderness medicine courses in their choice of an appropriate course and credential for their programs.” This updated Scope is an outcome of countless discussions and the collaborative efforts of many, including the AORE’s 2009 conference Wilderness Medicine Roundtable.

The University of Maryland is located in College Park, MD, which lies within Prince George's County. Within the county confines lie many fine restaurants, retail shopping areas, the university, the College Park Airport (the world's oldest continuously operating airport), the National Archives II (the world's largest archival facility), NASA (Goddard Space Flight Center), and the National Wildlife Visitor Center. Washington, DC, is a metropolitan city with historic attractions, museums, monuments, hotels, restaurants, free annual events, and visitor services unrivaled by any other American city.
