Lodging
The Crowne Plaza provides a variety of room options including singles, doubles and suites. Room rates start at $106 plus tax per room. The hotel includes amenities such as, outdoor pool, sauna and whirlpool, high-speed internet access, on-site fitness center and a business center. The Crowne Plaza is located on the River walk and is just 8 miles from the airport. San Antonio’s compact downtown area is perfect for conferences and visitors. Transportation, restaurants and attractions are all conveniently located within walking distance via street level or the River Walk. River taxis and trolley cars are also fun, unique options for those who’d rather ride than walk. Unlike other conference locations on university campuses, we depend upon booking a certain number of room-nights to pay for our use of the conference center; therefore, it is imperative that conference attendees stay at the hotel.
To Make a Reservation
Phone: Guests can make their reservations by calling 888-623-2800 before the designated cut-off date. Guests must identify themselves as a 2011 AORE Conference attendee.
Online: Crowne Plaza Reservations All reservations must be guaranteed and accompanied by a first night room deposit or guaranteed by a major credit card. All cancellations must be made 72 hours prior to arrival. Failure to do so will result in charging the credit card one night’s room and tax. Guest accommodations will be available at 3:00 pm on arrival day and reserved until 11:00 am on departure day.
Reservation room blocks have been extended until October 13th. Reservations made after that point are on a first-come first-served basis, meaning that Crowne Plaza will no longer hold those rooms exclusively for our group!
Travel
The Crowne Plaza is located just 8 miles from the San Antonio Airport
and will serve as the host hotel and conference site. A couple
of transportation options for attendees are the hotel shuttle service and
taxis.
Taxi: $22/one way
Shuttle: $18/one way (Call S.A. Transportation at (210) 281-9900 to make a reservation)
By Air
The San Antonio International Airport is the closest airport and is a mere 8 miles from the conference site.
VIA Bus from the Airport:
- Exit Arrivals/Baggage area and cross to the outer curb. VIA's stop is clearly marked, midway between Terminals A & B
- Catch VIA Bus #5 ($1.10) which operates every day, approximately every 30 minutes, between 5:24am and 9:40pm
- Get off at Pecan Street. The Crowne Plaza will be one block west, 111 E. Pecan
