Volunteering with AORE
Volunteering with AORE is a great way for members to be involved with the Association and the work it does throughout the year! Volunteers are key to AORE's success and its advancement of its mission of empowering leaders to connect people to the outdoors through recreation and education experience.
Committees and Action Teams
AORE has multiple committees that are supported by volunteer involvement. Some of the larger committees have smaller Action Teams where volunteers are also able to support.
If you’re not sure which Committee/Action Team is the best fit, or you’re interested in supporting more than one, that’s okay! Indicate multiple areas of interest or share your general skills and availability in the form below. The AORE team can help match you with opportunities where your time and strengths will have the greatest impact.
Check back in throughout the year to see what other new volunteer opportunities we have!
Accessing and Permitting Committee
The Access and Permitting Committee supports the National Office by providing the AORE membership with important opportunities, resources, and information relevant to access to public lands and waters for current and aspiring outdoor recreation, education, and industry professionals and organizations.
Outdoor Professional Conference (OPC) Planning Committee
Volunteering for the AORE’s Outdoor Professional Conference provides members with a way to contribute to the planning and organizing of the conference, while also giving members a way to connect with other volunteers and develop their own professional skills.
There are multiple ways to get involved, broken down into separate Action Teams, and volunteers can choose which one (or ones!) they’d like to volunteer.
Education Action Team:
Volunteers on the Education Action Team support all Education efforts for the Outdoor Professional Conference throughout the year. Some of the responsibilities include:
- Reviewing education session proposals
- Providing feedback and support on selected Session Proposals
- Assisting on-site during the conference workshops, serving as session room hosts, and more!
Exhibit Hall Action Team:
The Exhibit Hall Action Team provides support for securing Vendors our exhibit hall, planning and preparation of exhibit hall events, and the AORE bookstore!
Social Programming Action Team:
This action team has volunteers assist in the planning, preparation, and on-site support for the OPC social events! These events take place at the conference center as well as off-site locations for AORE social events.
Marketing and Promotion Action Team:
The Marketing and Promotion Action team has volunteer support by spreading the word about all the wonderful events and opportunities with AORE’s Outdoor Professional Conference. This Action Team works hard to promote on social media platforms, virtual meet-up’s, and more!
On-Site Action Team:
The On-Site Action Team is the most hands-on way for volunteers to connect and support AORE’s mission at the Outdoor Professional Conference! Volunteers in the On-Site Action Team are the face of AORE to other attending members. This is a great way to connect with new faces at the conference!
Expectations of an AORE Volunteer
It is expected that all AORE Volunteers:
- Be prepared for, attend and engage in committee/action team meetings
- Respond to all volunteer related emails, polls and surveys in a timely fashion
- Maintain an open line of communication with team leads in regards to availability/capacity
- Fulfill agreed upon commitments and communicate any challenges with the team leads
- Recognize that committee and action team work is volunteer based, and be respectful of everyone’s effort on the action team
Time Commitment
Whether you are able to volunteer 30 minutes or a few hours, your time will help support AORE’s mission of empowering outdoor professionals. Let us know your availability when filling out your Volunteer Interest Form.
